Jaba juice is derived from the plant khat, known locally in Kenya as miraa. It works as a stimulant, in the same vein as coca leaves and betel nut. While khat is traditionally chewed and spit, the act is generally considered messy and lower class, resulting in the emergence of liquid alternatives. The mixture is extremely bitter and vegetal, with a mouth coating effect that lasts for a minute afterwards. As for my experience, feelings of well-being, excitement and loquaciousness set in after half a bottle. It also worked heavily as a diuretic, causing frequent trips to the bathroom.
